Ingredients

  • 4 ripe tomatoes rinsed
  • 16 ounces fresh mozzarella drained
  • 1 bunch basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil extra virgin
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze optional
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Slice 4 ripe tomatoes into ¼-inch thick rounds.
  • Cut 16 ounces of fresh mozzarella into ¼-inch thick slices.
  • On a large serving platter, alternate slices of tomato, mozzarella, and basil leaves, slightly overlapping each one. Start with a slice of tomato, then place a slice of mozzarella on top, and finally, a basil leaf. Repeat until all ingredients are used up.
  • Drizzle 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil evenly over the salad. For a touch of sweetness, add a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
  • Sprinkle 1 teaspoon kosher salt and ½ teaspoon ground black pepper to taste over the salad.
  • Caprese salad is best served immediately at room temperature so the flavors are at their peak. ENJOY!
